    • Social connection — chronic loneliness has a mortality effect comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
    • Managing stress and blood pressure — both accelerate biological aging when chronic.

    It is (almost) never too late

    One of the most encouraging findings is that starting later still helps. People who improved their habits in their 60s and 70s still gained measurable years of healthy life. Biological age — measured by inflammatory and metabolic markers — responded to change even in the eighth decade of life.
